OCB’s 12-game unbeaten run has come to an end.
Two first-half goals from Mikey Minutillo and Sunny Jane lifted the Richmond Kickers (6-13-8, 26 points) past Orlando City B 2-0 Thursday night at Orlando City Stadium.
“The biggest disappointment for me is the level of performance,” said OCB head coach Anthony Pulis. “The first 60 minutes was as poor as it has been since probably I’ve been in charge of this team, so it was really disappointing as to why we were so poor for that first 60 minutes. We saw a little bit reaction for the last 30 [minutes] where we moved the ball a little quicker, and looked like we might create some chances, but when you sit back and look at it, to concede from two restarts was really disappointing.”
The USL Lions conceded their first goal in the 40th minute after a free kick from Richmond connected with Mallan Roberts, who flicked the ball toward Minutillo to head the ball past goalkeeper Jake Fenlason.
Jane doubled and secure the lead in the a minute into first-half stoppage time after converting a free kick outside the box.
OCB’s last loss came on June 14 during a 1-0 loss at Toronto FC II.
According to OCB captain Lewis Neal, the team lost its focus and let Richmond take control for most of the game.
“We need to start a lot brighter, we need to start sharper, we need to play a high tempo,” said Neal. “We gave them too much respect, and it costs us. We lost focus, but now we have to brush it off and finish these last few games with a positive result.”
Orlando City B travels to take on Saint Louis FC on Sept. 16 at 8:30 p.m.
