Brian Brown scored twice while Patrick Slogic and Enzo Martinez also found the net to power the Charlotte Independence past Orlando City B 4-0 on Wednesday night.
The Independence (11-6-6, 39 points) got on the scoresheet in the opening minutes of the game after Slogic opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Brown doubled the lead minutes later.
“Obviously it’s another disappointing result and performance. You can’t keep starting games slowly like we’re starting at the moment,” OCB head coach Anthony Pulis said. “We gave ourselves a huge mountain to climb after eight minutes being two goals down.”
Martinez made it 3-0 in the 64th minute after making a run toward goal and striking the ball past goalkeeper Mark Ridgers. Brown sealed his brace in the 71st minute when he finished a ball from close range from David Estrada.
The result for OCB marked the end of a two-game road stretch, which saw the USL Lions get outscored 9-1 after previously losing 5-1 against New York Red Bulls II last weekend at Red Bull Arena.
OCB fell to 8-8-7, 31 points, occupying the final playoff spot in the USL eastern conference.
OCB hosts the Richmond Kickers on Sunday at Titan Soccer Complex in Melbourne at 7 p.m.
