Entering their match against the New England Revolution, Orlando City had only conceded three goals in their last five games.

On Saturday, the Lions were on the receiving end of that tally — losing 3-1 to the Revs at Gillette Stadium while snapping their six-game unbeaten streak along the way.

“Obviously, frustrating not getting the result but the analysis of the game is clear. I told the boys push and they played a very good half in the second half,” City head coach Oscar Pareja said after the game. “The goals were placed, isolated. We could have defended better and that’s probably the frustration that we carry right now.”

“We had the chances to score, we had the chances to equalize the game and then, when we were pushing the most and when we were reacting and we were putting New England in their last third, that second goal came,” he added. “That was frustrating, the same with the third goal. But the effort from the players was very good. I have to say that it has been a very good half, especially in the first half it was probably for either team.”

Emmanuel Boateng opened the scoring in the 51st minute after hitting a volley off a rebound from the edge of the box past goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar. Gustavo Bou doubled the lead in the 69th minute after blasting a strike from outside the area into the bottom-left corner of goal.

Rookie Duncan McGuire scored his fifth goal of the season after heading a ball from Mikey Halliday in the 80th minute past Earl Edwards Jr.

But Carles Gil secured the victory for the Revs in the 85th minute during a counter attack.

Orlando (7-5-5, 26 points) was without Antonio Carlos and Kyle Smith due to suspension from yellow card accumulation.

Facundo Torres (Uruguay), Wilder Cartagena (Peru), Pedro Gallese (Peru), and Wilfredo Rivera (Puerto Rico) were out with their respective national teams.

Up next, the Lions return to Exploria Stadium to take on the Philadelphia Union at 7:30 p.m.
