Dom Dwyer ruled out for Orlando City’s season-opener against Real Salt Lake

IMG_8653Orlando City forward Dom Dwyer has been ruled out for Saturday’s season-opening match against Real Salt Lake at Exploria Stadium.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. ET.

Lions head coach Oscar Pareja confirmed with reporters on Wednesday that Dwyer will miss this weekend’s matchup against RSL due to a lower-body injury the forward suffered during the preseason.

Dwyer has been listed as “week-to-week” and has a timetable to return to action in a couple of weeks, according to Luis Torres of ProSoccerUSA.com.

Dwyer isn’t the only player who will miss out on Saturday’s 2020 season opener. Orlando City captain Nani will miss the first two games of the season after the MLS Disciplinary Committee handed the Portuguese attacker a two-game ban and an undisclosed fine for aggressive behavior towards a match official during last year’s season-finale game against the Chicago Fire.

Nani is expected to make his season debut on March 14 when the Lions host the Fire at Exploria Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET.
