Orlando City officially transferred star forward Daryl Dike to EFL Championship side West Bromwich Albion, both clubs announced on Saturday.
Dike signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Baggies, ending his time with the Lions after two seasons.
“We would like to thank Daryl for all he has given to Orlando City throughout his time here,” EVP of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi said in a statement. “From the moment we drafted him, we knew Daryl was a special talent, and this opportunity is a credit to both his natural talent and his dedication over the last two years. We are happy that he was able to develop here in Orlando and grow into the player he is today.”
The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but ESPN reported on Saturday that the Lions will receive $9.5 million, plus performance bonuses. The Athletic reported Orlando will also receive 20% of any future sale of Dike.
During Dike’s two seasons with Orlando, the forward netted 18 goals in 35 league appearances with the Lions, playing an important part in both seasons as Orlando secured spots in the playoffs.
Dike also saw a brief loan-sting with Championship side Barnsley in early 2021, scoring nine goals in 19 appearances for the Tykes.
