Orlando City announced Sunday afternoon that they have loaned out Brazilian striker Matheus Aiás to Spanish second division side Real Oviedo for their 2021-22 season. The loan will last until June 30, 2022 and Oviedo will have the option to purchase Aiás at the end of it.

Since 2014, most of Aiás’ carrer has been played in Spain, having started with Grenada’s B team and then loaned out by Watford FC to three separate Spanish teams in Fuenlabrada, Valencia, and CD Mirandés.

Orlando City was his first team that he played for outside of Spain, where he struggled to adjust. In just six total matches played between last year and this year, he never made an appearance that lasted more than 15 minutes. He did manage to get credit for one goal in those six matches, a deflected Sebas Mendez free kick agianst Atlanta United on October 28th, 2020.
