Orlando City continued to add to its already deep attack line, announcing on Tuesday the signing of Dutch winger Silvester van der Water to a three-year contract with a one-year option, ahead of the 2021 MLS season.
“We are excited to bring Silvester to Orlando and to Major League Soccer,” said Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi in a press release. “Silvester is an exciting, up-and-coming player that we have been targeting for a while. He will add yet another different dimension to our attacking corps, as we get ready to challenge for titles in a very fixture-packed year.”
According to Paul Tenorio of The Athletic, van der Water will be a Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) signing for the Lions because of the undisclosed transfer free Orlando will pay Heracles Almelo — which competes in the Eredivisie.
The 24-year-old winger made 53 appearances in the Dutch top flight, scoring 10 goals during his three seasons with the Heraclieden.
The van de Water signing comes a week after the Lions announced the signing of Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato.
