The Lions have their first-choice goalkeeper for the 2020 MLS season.

Orlando City announced Friday the signing of Peruvian national team goalkeeper Pedro Gallese on a permanent transfer from Liga MX side Veracruz.

“We are very excited to welcome Pedro to our roster. He is a proven goalkeeper at both the club and international levels with World Cup experience on his resume,” Orlando City EVP of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi said. “His track record speaks for itself and we are thrilled to add his presence to our roster ahead of this season.”

The team did not disclose the length of his contract with the Lions.

Gallese, 29, spent 2019 on loan with Peruvian side Alianza Lima and was acquired by the Lions using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).
