Goals from Rachel Hill and Chioma Ubogagu sent the Orlando Pride past the Chicago Red Stars 2-1 Wednesday night at SeatGeek Stadium.

Hill gave Orlando (4-11-2, 14 points) the lead when she headered a cross from Ubogagu past Alyssa Naeher in the 33rd minute. The pair combined again for Orlando’s second goal in the 61st minute when Hill found Ubogagu on a pass, slotting the ball past Naeher to double the lead.

Alex Morgan made her first start since April 27 on Wednesday for the Pride. The forward was out due to national team duties with the United States during the FIFA Women’s World Cup this past summer.

Morgan recently returned from a knee injury she suffered in France, and most recently played her first game back last weekend.

But Morgan’s night, however, didn’t last long. In the sixth minute, Morgan went down after colliding with Julie Ertz and Sarah Gorden. The USWNT striker continued to be down for several minutes before officially leaving the game in the 13th minute for Chioma Ubogagu due to precautionary reasons.

The Pride went down to 10 players going into the 90th minute when Alanna Kennedy was issued a straight red card for a last-player challenge on Sam Kerr.

Here’s what Pride head coach Marc Skinner had to say:

“We’ve had to endure everything. It’s about time Orlando Pride built the identity of a team that wants to be successful and not just wish for it to be. We have to dig in, you have to win games ugly and tonight I think we’ve won the game ugly.

Chicago have got to come in the second half and they’ve got one of the world’s best forwards, so you have to try and stop that from happening and I thought the girls were superb tonight. For every player on that field, for everyone in the squad, they’ve hopefully identified what the Pride badge is to play for.”
