After previously being left out of the team sheet prior to Orlando City’s 3-1 win against Real Salt Lake on May 6 due disciplinary reasons, Paraguayan midfielder Josué Colmán returned to action during last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Atlanta United.

Despite the result, his performance was praised by head coach Jason Kreis, saying Colmán responded well to the call after a solid week of training leading up to the Atlanta game with the first team.

“He’s responded very, very well. It’s frustrating because I felt like the week leading up to that situation, he was training well already,” Kreis said on Wednesday. “Was training in a positive direction and having to leave him out was difficult for us, but I thought it was necessary from a disciplinary point of view.”

The club did not comment on what exactly happened when Colmán broke a locker room rule, but this past weekend Colmán played 24 minutes after entering for Chris Mueller in the 66th minute. –

Colmán’s first and only start this season was during a 3-2 win against the Portland Timbers on April 8 that saw the midfielder play 67 minutes.

With a short turnaround this week leading up to Friday’s away game against Toronto FC, Kreis said hinted Colmán could feature at some point during the club’s next match at BMO Field.

“He then responded with another solid week of training and that’s why he got such an extended minutes in the game against Atlanta,” added Kreis. “Now, he’s back into full consideration no doubt about it.
