MLS Players Association release 2018 salaries

The Major League Soccer Players Association released on Thursday their annual salaries for the 2018 season. For Orlando City, with this being the first year without former Designated Player Kaká, their overall salary looks a bit more balanced than in years past.

Striker Dom Dwyer is the Lions highest-paid player, making $1,383,333.33, while Sacha Kljestan makes the second highest, earning $1,100,000.04. Lamine Sané rounds out the top three highest paid players, making $855,000.04.  All three salaries are the total compensation, which includes signing bonuses and guaranteed bonuses over the course of a players contract.

Multiple players also received raises from their salaries last season. Midfielder Cristian Higuita went from $286,666.67 in 2017 to $581,663.67 this season, a raise of $294, 967. Justin Meram also received a pay bump, making $250,000 more than he made last season with the Columbus Crew.

Other players took a slight pay cut. Scott Sutter dropped $15,000 from his 2017 salary and RJ Allen dropped $11,666.75 from his NYCFC salary last year. The biggest pay cut was midfielder Dillon Powers, who dropped $145,000 from his salary last year, mostly spend with the Colorado Rapids.
