Minnesota United tops Orlando City, Lions winless in six games

Orlando City’s woes continued on Saturday night against Minnesota United.

In a match which saw Adrian Heath take on his former club of six years, the Loons were able to grind out a 1-0 victory over the Lions at TCF Bank Stadium.

“At the end of it all it’s about making plays in the penalty box. We’re getting there, we’re getting in a lot of good spaces, we just can’t quite seem to break through [and] score the goal that would have changed the game for us,” Orlando head coach Jason Kreis said. “We just move forward. It’s not a question of how, it’s just will.”

Christian Ramirez’s goal in the 56th minute was all Minnesota needed to extend Orlando’s winless run to six games, a club record. The Loons (4-7-2, 14 points) snapped a two-game losing streak while also recording their third shutout of the season on Saturday.

Orlando City captain Ricardo Kaka did not travel with the team after not feeling 100 percent, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

On paper, Orlando City outshot Minnesota 20-5 while also winning possession with 52.8 percent control of the ball.
