Ricardo Kaka is on the verge of coming back.

Six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury 11 minutes into Orlando City’s home-opener against New York City FC on March 5, the Brazilian star could potentially make a return when the Lions travel to Yankee Stadium this weekend, Jason Kreis told reporters during Wednesday’s training session at Sylvan Lake Park.

“He’s piecing together a little bit more every single day. Yesterday, he did very little. Today, he did another block of the training than he did yesterday. Tomorrow is an off day, I believe he’ll be working on his own through that off day, and then in Friday and Saturday we look to build him up even more to potentially have him in contention for  the game in New York City,” said Kreis.

Kaka returned to training last week, but has been training separately from the team. Kreis later said he’ll slowly join the squad ahead of Sunday’s game at New York City FC.

The Lions (4-1-0, 12 points) sit in second place in the Eastern Conference table with a game in hand and remain undefeated at home at Orlando City Stadium.

Sunday’s game at Yankee Stadium will mark Orlando City’s second road game of the season after falling to the Columbus Crew earlier this month.

The game kicks off at 1:30 p.m. and will broadcast on FS1.
