Louisville City spoil Orlando City B’s home-opener with 3-1 win

There was a different lineup heading into the game, but it didn’t change anything.

Goals from George Davis IV, Cameron Lancaster and Luke Spencer secured Louisville City FC a 3-1 victory over Orlando City B on Thursday night in front of 2,741 in attendance at Orlando City Stadium.

“I don’t think you can defend the way we defended tonight and expect to win football matches at any level,” said Orlando City B coach Anthony Pulis. “That’s something we have to address… On the haul, it was a disappointing evening, but we have no time, we have to dust ourselves off, get back to work next morning and prepare for Tuesday.”

Louisville took the early lead in the 11th minute when Lancaster produced a shot outside the box beating OCB goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr.

The USL Lions found the equalizer before halftime after Austin Martz’s cross was cleared the wrong way by Louisville’s Tarek Morad, scoring the own-goal in the 42nd minute.

James O’Connor’s men got back in the lead in the 57th minute after Davis’s strike from point range gave Louisville its second goal. Spencer capped the scoring in the 76th minute after Niall McCabe’s through-ball split through OCB’s defense, finding Spencer to slot it past Edwards.

OCB opened up its season on the road last weekend during a 1-0 defeat against the Tampa Bay Rowdies in St. Petersburg.

Louisville (1-1-0, 4 points) outshot Orlando 17-10, but it was OCB who controlled possession with 50.9 percent.

Conor Donovan, Kevin Alston, Pierre Da Silva and Danny Deakin were the first-team players that saw action for OCB on Thursday night.

Orlando City B will continue to look for its first win when it welcomes Toronto FC II to Orlando City Stadium on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
