After going down in the opening minutes during Sunday’s season opener between Orlando City and New York City FC, team captain Ricardo Kaka will miss a significant amount of time of action after suffering a hamstring injury.
According to a tweet from The Mane Land, the Brazilian star suffered a left hamstring injury, and will miss about six weeks of action.

The injury occurred eight minutes into the game after a run toward goal saw Kaka crash into a group of NYCFC defenders. Kaka soon clutched his left leg and walked off the field and straight to the locker room after Giles Barnes was substituted into the game for him.
Alicia Del Gallo of the Orlando Sentinel confirmed TML’s report moments later.

Moments after the final whistle, head coach Jason Kreis said it was a serious injury and could require Kaka missing action for the Lions.
Orlando City was plagued with injuries late in its preseason. Right back defenders Kevin Alston and Rafael Ramos suffered similar injuries. Alston, however, has returned to light training and told the Orlando Soccer Journal he’s close to a return.
