OCB rallies; Pride ends road swing

While Orlando City SC competed on Saturday night at Camping World Stadium, the club’s two other teams saw action over the weekend.

Orlando City B hosted New York Red Bull II on Sunday at Melbourne while The Orlando Pride visited the Washington Spirit the previous Saturday.

Here’s a rundown on what occurred around the city this past weekend:

Comeback Lions

Orlando City B were heading toward a dismal defeat, but Pierre Da Silva’s late goal salvaged a 2-2 draw against New York Red Bull II on Sunday night.

OCB (5-6-3, 18 points) took an early lead when Devron García recorded his first-ever goal in a purple kit after hitting a miscue from goalkeeper Ryan Meara in the 17th minute.

NYRBII leveled and regained the lead within a five minute span when Tim Schmoll and Aaron Long converted respectively in the 37th and 41st minute.

Da Silva’s goal in the 87th minute ensured OCB the shared points. OCB are unbeaten in their last two games (one win, one draw).

The USL Lions visit FC Montreal on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. ET.

Spirit downs Pride

A four-game road stretch has finally come to an end for the Pride.

The Washington Spirit defeated the Orlando Pride 2-0 on Saturday.

5,750 was the announced attendance at Maryland SoccerPlex as goals from Estefania Banini and Francisca Ordega kept the Spirit (5-1-2, 17 points) one point shy from first place of the NWSL standings.

The Pride (4-5-0, 12 points) finished their four-game road stretch with only one victory.

Tom Sermanni’s team returns back to Camping World Stadium on Thursday in a game against the Houston Dash at 7:30 p.m. Following Thursday’s game, the Pride remain at home for a Sunday showdown against the Portland Thorns at 5 p.m.
