Columbus Crew SC traded Kei Kamara to the New England Revolutions Thursday morning, according to ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle.
In return, Columbus will receive a record amount of allocation money, the Revolutions’ highest first-round 2017 MLS SuperDraft pick, second-round pick in the 2018 draft and an international spot for the 2016 season.
Per the report, Columbus will receive more than $300,000 in targeted and general allocation money.

The trade comes after Kamara and former teammate Federico Higuain were involved in a public altercation following a 4-4 draw with the Montreal Impact. The dispute was over who would take a penalty kick. Whereas Kamara wanted to complete his hat-trick, Higuain ultimately took the shot to put the team up 4-1.
Following Kamara’s comments to local media, the 31-year-old was suspended by his former club for the following match against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.
