Kaká to miss Orlando City match at Red Bulls

Ricardo Kaká will not play when Orlando City travels to take on the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Sunday night.

The Orlando captain sustained a minor groin injury earlier this week at practice, but is on track to play in the New England Revolution game on April 30 at Gillette Stadium, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Photos of the Brazilian star attending the Orlando Pride’s home-opener on Saturday surfaced throughout social media and brought doubt and speculation on why the player did not travel with the team this weekend to New York.

Depth will likely play a factor again on Sunday night for the Lions (2-1-3, 9 points). Antonio Nocerino is out with a suspension. Lions head coach Adrian Heath could deploy various scenarios.

Carlos Rivas could play on the left, Kevin Molino in the middle with Adrian Winter on the right, which could leave Cyle Larin as the lone striker. Another scenario would be employing Brek Shea as a left winger with Luke Boden filling the left back position.

Heath also has the option to play two forwards with Júlio Baptista partnering with Larin.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will broadcast on FS1.
