Depleted Orlando City B continues winless run

The pressure going into Saturday night’s game at Titan Soccer Complex was mostly based on finally getting that first USL victory after multiple tries.

But after another lackluster performance and two red cardslater, OCB remains without a win four games into the season.

And that played a major factor, as the Harrisburg City Islanders stood victorious after a 1-0 victory over Orlando City B.

Cardel Benbow’s strike in the 60th minute was the only goal of the game to give Harrisburg its first win of the season after Orlando finished playing with nine players on the field.

“The guys worked hard. I don’t ever question their togetherness and their willingness to keep going and never give in, and they obviously did that,” Orlando City B coach Anthony Pulis said. “We ended up with nine, and it’s difficult, but we were firm in the back and they didn’t give up, and I can’t question that at all.”

Tony Rocha picked up his second red card of the season in the 40th minute after an apparent reckless challenge on Shawn McLaws of Harrisburg.

OCB captain Lewis Neal was the next player to follow with the ejections. After initially earning a yellow card in the 82nd minute, the Orlando veteran picked up a second yellow in stoppage time after a brief scuffle with Aaron Wheeler before fully ripping the forward’s jersey.

Harrisburg improves to 1-2 with three points. Orlando City B (0-3-1, 1 points) moves to 12th place in the USL Eastern Conference table.

OCB looks to snap their current four-game skid when they visit Highmark Stadium on Friday to face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at 7 p.m.

Orlando City B XI: Mark Ridgers; Tyler Turner, Devron Garcia, Kyle McFadden, Craig Nitti, Richie Laryea, Neal, Jonathan Mendoza, Rocha, Bryan Róchez, Michael Cox.
