After a 4-1 dismantling of the MLS Cup champions last week, Orlando City is back on the road to take on the Philadelphia Union on Friday night at 7 p.m.
Orlando (2-0-2, 8 points) will be heading into the game without three starters. Tommy Redding (head), Cyle Larin (hamstring) and Brek Shea (suspension) will miss the game at Talen Energy Stadium, which will broadcast on UniMás.
“They are much improved from this time last year. They had a complete revamp of the club,”Orlando City head coach Adrian Heath said. “I think it’s going to be about attitude. We proved on Sunday that we can come and play against anybody in the league — now, can we do it again? We are going to be under pressure for large periods of the game, but can we cope with it and can we go and play our football when we can?”
Depth will play a key role for the Lions heading into this game, with Aurélien Collin most likely to fill the center back void while Ricardo Kaká will slip into the false 9 position. Luke Boden and Kevin Alston are the available left backs to replace Shea on Friday.
Júlio Baptista traveled with the team, but will start on the bench while Antonio Nocerino is likely to be named to the starting lineup.
The Union fell 1-0 last week to the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park, but downed the New England Revolution 3-0 on during their March 20 home-opener.
Both Orlando and Philadelphia met in the final regular-season game last year, which saw the Union walk away with a narrow 1-0 victory, while Orlando’s playoff hopes were drowned.
