Orlando City left back Brek Shea has been suspended for Friday night’s road game against the Philadelphia Union.
The suspension comes after Sunday’s 4-1 rout of the defending MLS Cup champions Portland Timbers.
The MLS Disciplinary Committee cited “serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent” as rationale for the suspension. The play in question was a tackle on Portland’s Dairon Asprilla. The 26-year-old has also been fined an undisclosed amount.
Last season, Shea earned one red card and the second-most yellow cards (seven) for Orlando City.
Orlando City (2-0-2, 8 points) play the Union at Talen Energy Stadium during Week 6 action on Friday at 7 p.m.
