Orlando Pride preseason schedule announced, Orlando City B recaps

Update your calendars; the Orlando Pride preseason schedule is set.

Tom Sermanni’s team, who will start preseason camp on Monday, will kick off its preseason schedule on March 19 against Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne. The game is slated to begin at 3 p.m.

Saturday’s game at Titan Soccer Complex is free to the public, but fans are encouraged to reserve a ticket.

The Pride will play an additional three preseason games against the University of Florida on March 22, University of South Florida on March 30 and Florida State University on April 2 in a closed-door friendly.

The NWSL expansion side will commence its inaugural season on April 17 at Providence Park when they visit the Portland Thorns. 

Hemmings retires

After being selected as the No. 3 pick of the 2016 National Women’s Soccer League expansion draft, Pride defender Taryn Hemmings announced her retirement from professional soccer on Thursday, March 10.

Hemmings, 29, spent three seasons with the Chicago Red Stars and also spent time with the Boston Breakers beforehand.

OCB rolls on

With one week left until their home-opener, Orlando City B is looking to end preseason with full momentum.

OCB defeated Florida Technical College 2-0 on March 5 and secured a 3-1 victory against the University of North Florida on March 8. The Lions tied Florida International University 1-1 on Saturday at Sylvan Lake Park.

Anthony Pulis’ men will cap off their preseason with a game against Eastern Florida State College on Saturday, March 19, at Titan Soccer Complex at 1 p.m.

Orlando City B will kickoff its season in USL when they host the Wilmington Hammerheads on Saturday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m.
