Orlando City B announced the signing of seven players ahead of its return to the United Soccer League for the 2016 season.
Former Orlando City Soccer Club midfielder Jonathan Mendoza is among the new signees. Mendoza, who played for Orlando’s first team during its 2013 USL season, joins after two years with the Rochester Rhinos.
“We’re obviously really excited with all seven additions,” Orlando City B head coach Anthony Pulis said. “There’s been a lot of hard work behind the scenes to recruit and sign these young players who all have tremendous upside. We can’t wait to start preseason and begin preparing for the 2016 season.”
Midfielder Marius Obekop and defender Craig Nitti also join the Brevard County side after previous respective stints with the New York Red Bulls II and Vancouver Whitecaps 2.
OCB’s frontline also received a boost with the acquisitions of Pierre da Silva, Dembakwi Yomba, Michael Cox and William Eyang.
The 17-year-old da Silva joins the Lions from their U-18 academy and was originally a part of the residency program at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Yomba comes from La Liga’s Atletico Madrid’s youth academy. Cox last played for North American Soccer League side FC Edmonton. Eyang last played for Swedish team Bodens BK.
